Terms
Plain words, because you should be able to read what you're agreeing to without a lawyer.
What you are buying
One-to-one peer recovery coaching, delivered by video or voice call by Bart. Bart is a peer recovery coach with lived experience, not a doctor, therapist, psychologist or licensed counsellor. Coaching is not medical care, it is not psychotherapy, and it is not a substitute for either. It cannot diagnose or treat any condition.
What it is not
It is not medical treatment, detox, withdrawal management, psychotherapy, counselling, or a diagnosis. It is not an emergency or crisis service. If you need any of those, I will tell you so and I will not take your money.
The rule I don't break
If somebody shows signs of physical dependence, the only thing I sell them is "go and see a doctor". No exceptions, including when they want to buy.
No outcome is promised
I don't promise that you will stop drinking, stay stopped, or achieve any particular result. Nobody honest can promise that, and anybody who does is selling you something. What I offer is my time, my attention and my experience, for the number of sessions you've paid for.
Money
Prices are in US dollars and they're the same wherever you live. If money is the real barrier, say so on the free call. I keep a couple of reduced-rate spots and I'm not going to make you prove anything to get one.
Refunds. If you buy a package, do the first session, and think this isn't for you, tell me and I'll refund the rest. No form, and no conversation about it unless you want one.
Cancelling a session. 24 hours notice, and one free pass. At some point you'll want to cancel a session, and it will almost certainly be the week you most need it. I'll give you that one, and then I'll ask you why.
Package sessions are meant to be used within a reasonable stretch of the period they're named for. If life gets in the way, tell me and we'll sort it out. I'm not going to expire your sessions on a technicality.
Confidentiality, and its limits
What you tell me stays with me. Sessions are not recorded. The one limit is the obvious one: if I believe there is a serious and immediate risk to your life or somebody else's, I may encourage you to get emergency help, and I would rather have an awkward conversation than a silent one.
You are responsible for your own decisions
Coaching is a conversation. What you decide to do afterwards is yours. Nothing on this site or said on a call is medical advice, and it should never replace speaking to a doctor, especially about stopping drinking.
